The Woodstock Fire Department is reminding everyone to change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors when you change your clocks this weekend.
WOODSTOCK - Don't forget to fall back one hour and change your clocks when you wake up on Sunday morning.
Public Information Coordinator with the Woodstock Fire Department Lisa Woods says it's also a good time to check your batteries.
"We are asking people to change the batteries in both their smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and when you are changing the batteries, take a look at the manufacturers date and if the alarms are 10 years old or older, we want you to replace the alarms."
Woods explains why this is so important to do this a couple of times a year.
"When the hydro goes out, you are relying on that battery for that alarm to work. So we want you to have a fresh good battery, every year when you change the clocks, change the battery so those alarms are always working properly."
Also remember to set your clocks back one hour before you go to bed on Saturday or when you first wake up on Sunday.
