They will recreate a photo that was taken back in 1925.
HARRINGTON - It's a celebration of Harrington's past.
The Harrington Homecoming Centennial will be takeover the village this Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.. It's being organized by the Harrington & Area Community Association and Zorra Heritage Committee.
Stephanie Radu is the Curator and Manager of the Beachville District Museum, which covers Zorra and South-West Oxford. She says there will be tours of the mill and historical displays at Harrington Hall, in addition to a petting zoo and scavenger hunt for the kids.
"There is a lot for people to come out and do, so we encourage anybody who is interested and looking for something to do on a summer weekend to come out and participate."
Once the activities end at 2:00 p.m., the Ingersoll Pipe Band will start ushering people over to the historic school house at the corner of Road 96 and 31st Line. The goal is to recreate a photo that was taken back of the Harrington Old Boys and Girls Reunion back in 1925. That photo features about 500 people, even though Harrington's population was closer to 400 at the time.
Radu would like to see lots of people present for the celebration and the photo.
"The event is meant to inspire anybody who have ties to Harrington, past and present. Even if you're the type that just drives through and notices how scenic and beautiful the village is, we want you to come out to this event."
It's free to take part in all of the activities, but you will have to pay if you want to grab food from the food truck on site.
Stephanie Radu stopped by the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Thursday July 31st. You can listen to the full interview below:
