Environment Canada says the cold snap will end on Friday, however the bad news is they are also calling for the possibility of freezing rain on Sunday.
OXFORD COUNTY - It looks like we will be wearing long johns in Oxford County for at least another day or two.
Environment Canada says we can expect another day or two of frigid cold temperatures with the wind chills hitting minus 24 in the morning and minus 18 in the afternoon for both today and tomorrow. Meteorologist Peter Kimbrell says we will start to see a bit of relief on Thursday before a warm stretch this weekend.
"On the weekend we are up to plus 5, plus 6 on Sunday, probably rain on Sunday and preceded by freezing rain, so it likely going to happen on Sunday, it is too early to predict what time the freezing rain will start on Sunday at this time."
Kimbrell did say there is nothing in the long term forecast that suggests we will have another cold snap like we are facing right now.
"The good news is that March is a transition month and the temperatures do start to inch up this month. So we start to climb and that will be the case this month, the sun is getting stronger, we will get warmer but weather is like a big wave we will go up and down. We will have warmer weather on the weekend and then it will probably cool down after that, not to the same extent we have today but it will be colder probably to begin the next week and then it will probably warm up again after that, so it is a bit of a yo-yo."
