The Victoria Day long weekend will be busy in Thamesford as Calithumpian returns.
THAMESFORD - The annual Calithumpian weekend is coming back to Thamesford.
It will be taking place over the Victoria Day long weekend, and will feature many different events. President of Calithumpian, Lisa Goodwin says what the event was at first.
"We've definitely turned it around, but years ago Calithumpian started a little bit morbidly from a town hanging where everyone gathered together for the hanging. Since then, it has inventively evolved."
Calithumpian kicks off May 16th and will run until May 19th with a full list of events each day. Volunteers are needed, because without them the weekend would not be able to run. Thamesford Lions Membership Chair, Rebecca Haggerty explains their connection with the weekend.
"We have been involved in the Calithumpian long weekend for many years. We are dating back to 1981that we've been doing the trout brunch for the Calithumpian long weekend. So that's a long time."
Tickets are 20 dollars a person, and 12 dollars for 12 and under. The ticket will get you beer battered trout, coleslaw, potato salad, veggies, and a light dessert.
For more information you can visit the Calithumpian website.
