Bus Passengers Respond in Crisis

Two passengers safely stopped a city bus after the driver experienced a seizure

WOODSTOCK - A couple of Woodstock Transit passengers are being hailed as heroes after stopping a bus when the driver experienced a seizure.

The bus, carrying around 10 people, was travelling northbound on Huron Street towards Devonshire on Saturday afternoon when the 60 year old driver fell ill.

A 74 year old passenger and a 24 year old passenger noticed when the driver fell into unconsciousness. The two passengers sprang into action, lowering the driver onto the floor of the bus. One of the passengers jumped behind the wheel and safely brought the vehicle to a stop. The other passenger stayed with the driver.

Police had to force their way through the locked bus doors when they arrived.

EMS transported the driver to hospital where she is expected to make a full recovery.
