Oxford County is proving once again that when it comes to dairy products, we are the Big Cheese.
There are sure to be some wide, cheesy grins as the Oxford County Cheese Trail kicks off its latest promotion.
May 13th and 14th are 'Big Cheese Days' featuring 21 special experiences. Tourism Specialist for the County of Oxford Meredith Maywood says cheese lovers will get to try the trail in a variety of ways during this two day event.
"People are going to be able to go out and visit a variety of stops along the Cheese Trail for meals, deals, and experiences including free tours, tastings, and unique menu items, and specials at shops."
Maywood says this just continues to solidify the fact that when it comes to dairy products, Oxford County is the big cheese.
"We're home to over 8 cheese companies and 70 varieties of cheese and dairy products are made in the area. So we want people to get out and try some of those unique flavours that are available and celebrate what makes this the dairy capital."
This is a self-guided tour, and the more stops you hit, the more chances there are to win a tasty prize.
"At every location along the Cheese Trail there will be ballot boxes," Maywood says. "And you can enter at each location, so for every location you visit you can enter a ballot for a chance to win a four pound wheel of Oxford Harvest Cheese from Gunn's Hill."
