Police are warning about a growing number of scam lottery emails advising consumers they have hit the jackpot. The scammers notify victims they've won millions of dollars, or a car, in a lottery. Police note that legitimate lotteries do not notify winners from a free email account, and you cannot win without first buying a lottery ticket. And legitimate lotteries will never ask a winner to pay any fees up front to receive a prize.
