Running for a third term with Blandford Blenheim council

PRINCETON - A level headed, personal approach with no personal agenda-- that's what Bruce Banbury believes he brings to Blandford Blenheim council.

The two time councillor has filed papers to run for a third term.

"I've enjoyed my last two terms on council and I would like the opportunity to continue serving the best interests of Blandford Blenheim residents. I think we have accomplished quite bit over the last two terms. I'd really like to help keep the momentum going."

"I can offer knowledge, insight, maybe gain from my experience, such as serving on the Board of the Grand River Conservation Authority. I've served on the township cemetery board, I've attended numerous conferences and seminars over the years. All of this helps to accumulated knowledge and insight into issues."

Among the challenges Banbury sees going forward-- the downloading of costs to municipal government and the rising costs of policing.

"There's always the challenge of maintaining financial stability at the same time as tackling infrastructure projects within the municipality to improve the quality of life. Another significant challenge is the challenge of attracting and retaining high calibre staff."

Banbury will have some competition though as four others have also filed for the position at this point.
