There were some comments after the Oxford County Pride President spoke to County Council regarding a potential bylaw.
OXFORD COUNTY - There was backlash after talks of a bylaw at the County Council.
Tami Murray, the President of Oxford County Pride was at the latest meeting as a delegation. She spoke about wanting to implement a bylaw.
"One of the things that I proposed was a bylaw, that would be a well and safe bylaw, an inclusion bylaw, that would ensure that protesters still have the right to protest, they just have to do so at a specific distance, usually 150 metres."
Murray states that Calgary has implemented a bylaw to keep children and families from getting hurt. She mentioned that the Drag Storytime events have been cancelled for 2024, but she does hope for better things in the future.
"My hope is, is that if we can get the safe and well inclusion bylaw passed we can return back to the libraries for 2025, our 10-year anniversary."
