Woodstock Police would like to make sure the first day of school is a safe one for all of our students heading back.
WOODSTOCK - The kids are heading back to school today, Woodstock Police is reminding everyone to follow the rules of the road.
Community Services and Media Relations Officer, Nikki VanLeeuwen says there is so much going on and everyone needs to be aware of their surroundings.
"People just need to slow down and pay attention, take their time getting to school. If they are a bus rider, make sure the bus is stopped, and make sure your sitting and behaving on the bus so your not distracting the bus driver."
VanLeeuwen stresses that it is important for parents to explain to their kids that they too need to take responsibility and stay off all electronic devices on the way to or from school.
"Awareness about kids online safety is really important. Being safe with strangers on the way to school as well, make sure you don't take any side routes, just focus on your task of getting to and from school."
VanLeeuwen adds that parents are reminded to follow all of the new school zone regulations that have been passed. Woodstock Police and Bylaw officers will be out, enforcing the rules.
