Three Oxford Attack basketball teams hit the hardwood over the weekend.
Here's a wrap of the Oxford Attack basketball teams that were in action this past weekend.
The Oxford Attack Midget Boys captured the silver medal at an OBA sanctioned tournament in Cambridge. Oxford was 2-1 in round robin play. They defeated Fergus 53-27 on Friday night in their first game of the season and followed up with a win and a loss on Saturday. They defeated North Toronto Huskies 62-42 and lost to the host Cambridge club 51-32. In the rematch with the host club, the Attack lost 63-27. This weekend, the midgets will be in London for another OBA sanctioned tournament.
The Oxford Attack Under 14 Major Bantam Boys competitive basketball team won two of three games in a friendly tournament in Woodstock. The Attack opened against the Milton Stags, with a come-from-behind 30-27 victory. Next they faced the Hamilton Wildcats and struggled with the Wildcats pressure defence committing numerous turnovers and lost 52 – 36. The boys finished the tournament with another comeback victory, beating the Chatham-Kent Wildcats 45-40. Next up for the U14 Attack boys is the Blessed Sacrament tourney in Hamilton next weekend.
The Oxford Attack Under 12 Major Atom Girls competitive basketball team travelled to London to face the London 86ers and came away with a convincing 40 – 17 victory. Amanda Witmer made 3 difficult basket plus a foul driving layups. Ainsley Docherty and Larissa Bayliss also scored from their wing positions in the Attack offence. Laila Taha netted 4 points for the Attack in the lopsided win. Next up for the Attack U12 girls is their year-end provincial tournament to be held in London in early April.
