Attack Post 1-2 Tourney Record

The Oxford Attack Under 13 Bantam Boys competitive basketball team finished with 1 win and 2 losses in a strong pool for an overall solid showing at their first sanctioned OBA tournament in Brantford. The Attack opened against the eventual tournament champions, a tall Tecumseh Saints squad, fell behind early and eventually lost 54 - 39. Brandon Cowan netted 11 points while Cubby Dempster and Liam Dempsey each potted 5 points. Carter De Jong continued his shot blocking prowess swatting away 3 opponents shot attempts. Hudson Holman once again controlled his team's defensive backboards with 5 rebounds. The Attack were shorthanded in their second game versus the Hamilton Wildcats dressing only 9 players but completed a thrilling come from behind victory on a single free made free throw by Cubby Dempster to ice the win 39 - 38. The Attack were down by as much as 10 points during the game due to the Wildcats unique 3-2 zone, but the Attack adjusted and battled back due to some spirited play from Quinten Quackenbush-Schneider and Callaghan Bullen who had 8 and 5 points, respectively; but more importantly played with aggressiveness and passion that carried through the entire team. Cowan and Holman rounded out the score sheet with 11 and 8 points, respectively. Ethan Roberts had 2 key assists on fast breaks in the 3rd quarter to start the Attack's triumphant comeback. The Attack completed their tourney against the strong host Brantford Rep team that dismantled the Attack team two weeks ago with their constant full court press. The Attack solved Brantford's press but eventually fell 46 - 25 in a game that was actually much closer than the final score reflected. Cowan had 8 points and Zachary Freisen netted 4 points in the loss. Jacob Clark's improved press break skills and continued tough defense were also on display all weekend. Adam Bullen was perfect from the free throw line all tournament and is becoming more physical with bigger opponents. The Oxford Attack players of the tournament were Cubby Dempster for his game winning free throw and improved press break skills and Callaghan Bullen for his leadership and toughness that had been missing on the Attack squad in recent games. Next up for the Attack U13's is a tournament in Guelph in two weeks.
