Oxford County Public Health is expanding the service they offer to parents with young children.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County Public Health is making it easier for parents to access their services.
The unit is dedicating more time and resources to meeting families where and when it is more convenient for them. They now offer in home programming at every community in Oxford and at the Ontario Early Years Centre's across the County. Supervisor of the Family Health Program Rhonda Manning tells Heart FM some of the services they offer parents.
"It's really going to be dependant on what the parent needs, so they can come and ask us questions. It could be a new mom with a new baby and we could provide breast feeding support for them, it could be for an older child and the family needs some support on nutrition because toddlers can be really picky eaters, so we can provide that support."
Previously these programs were only offered at Well Baby Clinics in Tillsonburg, Ingersoll and Woodstock and Manning says they wanted to make sure they were available to all of the parents in the County.
"So this service that we are providing is an expansion of the service that we have offered for years here in our community that was only offered in three locations, so we have expanded into the whole county at all of the early years education centres and we will be providing one on one home visits for those who need it."
The last Well Baby Clinic is being held on November 10 in Tillsonburg. Parents can reach the Public Health Family Health team by calling us at 519-539-9800, 1-800-755-0394 to book an appointment or online by visiting www.oxfordcounty.ca/askanurse.
