Art Sake Showcases Local Talent

Works from local artists will be on display at the CMHA office for the annual Art Sake event.

WOODSTOCK - The Canadian Mental Health Association of Oxford County is offering the public a chance to see the work of some talented local artists with the their annual Art Sake show. 

Paintings, sculptures, photographs, and poems will be on display at the CMHA office on Wednesday October 7th and 8th. Community Support Worker Tisha Morrison tells Heart FM the artists all take part in the CMHA's art group which meets once a month. 

"There is a committee that is a combined committee of clients and employees at the CMHA that kind of drive what the topics will be, different art that we will teach at the group, or different types of crafts that you can use - creative expression to create something really unique." 

Morrison notes a lot of the clients really enjoy coming out to the group as a way to express themselves.

"A lot of our clients have actually written submissions as well with their art that they put on display and done interviews to explain why they feel that this art group and this art show is important to them. I think it's just a venue where they can come, there is no right or wrong, and it's creative expressionism." 

Morrison says this is a chance for talented artists that are served by CMHA Oxford to showcase their work to family, friends and the general public. Some of the art work will be available for purchase and the show runs from 1-4 p.m on the 7th and 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the 8th.
