The latest numbers in the 2018 Water System Performance Summary report say Oxford County's water is safe.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County council received their numbers for their annual drinking water system performance.
CAO for Oxford County, Peter Crockett says it was another successful year.
"Most of our inspections were 100 percent, we achieved 100 percent rating. We're very proud of the quality and the reliability of our water systems in Oxford County."
In comparison to last year's annual report, Crockett adds the numbers continue to increase.
"They continue to rise. We've always been in the high 90's, in terms of most of our evaluations. This year we were by and large at 100 percent in our drinking water assessments."
The annual report, which is done on its 17 municipal water drinking systems, notes that Public Works treated and supplied 10.8 million cubic metres of drinking water to 21 communities in Oxford County in 2018.
Out of Oxford’s 17 municipal drinking water systems, the Ministry of Environment found that 15 came back at 100 percent.
As a result, Crockett says the drinking water is safe in Oxford County.
"Without question, it's absolutely safe to be drinking the water. The water we provide is very high quality, very safe and the public can have remarkable confidence in that. The ongoing diligence is to make sure that it stays that way, continues to improve, that we keep our eyes open and keep looking to the future to make sure that the public and the public health is protected through our drinking water system."
