A new dog park could be a reality for Ingersoll by next summer.
INGERSOLL - John Lawson Park is slated to be the new home for a dog park in Ingersoll.
The original dog park plan hit a snag earlier this year after the chair of the committee moved to another municipality.
Co-chair Dave Cripps says things are getting back on track.
"Darryl Countrymen has volunteered his services to be the Chair for the Dog Park Committee in Ingersoll with Regan Warnick- Franklin and myself acting as co-chair or tri-chairs I guess. We have a location that council has given their blessing for us to use. We are now in the planning phase and moving things forward."
"We need to develop a fundraising plan and obviously apply for some grants. We are gearing up to approach the new council in January of next year to demonstrate our plans and move things forward so if all goes well, we will be aiming to be well underway and have something in place towards the end of next summer or the fall."
Cripps believes they will need to raise between 20 and 35 thousand dollars.
"The dog park will be town property so we don't have to pay for it and the park itself will be the town's. The fundraising will be for fencing and clearing the land -- it's in a bit of a brush now. We are looking at leveraging some volunteers to mitigate some of the costs and keep things moving in the right direction as well.
