DART and Zonta are raising awareness about violence against women. The 16 days of activism for violence against women is underway.
OXFORD COUNTY - The 16 days of activism for violence against women is upon us.
A double flag raising took place in Woodstock today in order to honour the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
Community Development Coordinator of DART, Amy Maddess.
"So it does start tomorrow. Tomorrow, the 25th is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women."
Zonta Member, Elizabeth Quinto says gators will be sold as a fundraiser over the course of the campaign.
"They are going to be in two colours, which represent Zonta, so that is orange and purple. They are about $10 and the funds go to our local organizations that women and girls."
The campaign will also have a vigil on December 6th to honour the victims of the tragic mass shooting at Polytechnique Montreal, and will be at the courthouse starting at 5 p.m.
