Students from seven different high schools across Oxford County will participate in the 13th annual Student StairClimb for United Way on Thursday November 3rd.
OXFORD COUNTY - Seven high local schools will be gathering at the Woodstock Community Complex in order to raise money for United Way Oxford.
Students from CASS, WCI, Huron Park, St Mary's, Notre Dame, IDCI and Glendale are collecting pledges for the 13th annual Student StairClimb on November 3rd.
Campaign Coordinator Rachel Robinson says a big prize will be handed out to the top fundraiser.
"Meridian Credit Union in town is our sponsor so for the top fundraiser they credit them with a $500 RESP (Registered Education Savings Plan)".
Robinson tells Heart FM all of the money raised will benefit United Way Oxford.
"The proceeds are divided up into our three priority areas; moving people from Poverty To Possibility, Building Strong Communities and ensuring kids have the opportunity to be All That Kids Can Be. So 100% of the proceeds stay in Oxford County."
Over the past 13 years the StairClimb has raised $200,000 for United Way Oxford. Just over $30,000 was raised last year so they are hoping to raise a similar amount this year.
This year the Student StairClimb will kick off at 9am and will wrap up at around 11am.
