Zonta Say No Campaign In Full Swing.

The Zonta Club of Woodstock has been very active in Oxford County lately.

OXFORD COUNTY - Lots of people have been sporting orange ribbons lately, in honour of the Zonta Says No campaign in Oxford County.

Lee-Ann Van Wees explains why the Woodstock Zonta Club has been organizing this campaign over the past six years.

"Zonta Says No is mandated by Zonta International for clubs to become advocates in their community to raise awareness about things like domestic violence and gender inequality."

The club works hard to shine a light on these issues through numerous events throughout the community. This includes a candlelight vigil for the victims of the Montreal Massacre on December 6th at St Marys High School at 5:30pm. DASO has also planned a family free skate at the Community Complex on December 9th between 5:45pm and 7:05pm.

Van Wees thanks those who have backed the cause so far.

"We appreciate the community support so the more orange ribbons we see out there and the more people we see attending our events, the stronger the voice will get out there."

The 16 days of activism began on November 23rd and will wrap up on December 10th. You can find more information on the Woodstock Zonta Club website.
