WOODSTOCK - The wrapped in courage and Zonta says No flags were officially raised at two ceremonies in Woodstock yesterday.
This was a way to commemorate International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women and kick start the 16 days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. Zonta Says No president for Woodstock Dr. Maria Odumodu says she hopes the flags generate discussion.
"So that people in Woodstock, when they go by and see the flag, they may ask questions as to what is happening and then we can explain to them that we are advocating for change, no more violence, because the violence affects not just the woman, the children, the whole family and maybe even the whole community."
Dr. Odumodu says it was great to see the show of support in Woodstock on Thursday.
"We had a good number of people come out to support us and we hope that they continue to come out and support us in the 16 days and in the future, so that, maybe there is no more reason for violence against women."
Several local dignitaries were on hand for the flag raising in a great showing of support. You can listen to the full interview with Dr. Odumodu below:
