Recent complaints has led to Woodstock Police sending out a reminder. Motorists are being asked to keep in mind that stopping in both directions for a school bus with lights and stop arm active is the law.
WOODSTOCK - Oxford Road 4 near Devonshire Ave is a hot spot for Woodstock Police.
Recently, officers have been getting complaints of vehicles not stopping for school buses that have their overhead lights and stop arm activated.
A reminder is being sent out by the Woodstock Police, saying that vehicles in both directions need to come to a complete stop, and not advance until the bus has deactivated their lights and stop arm.
An exception to the rule, is on a highway where a median divides the lanes.
Failure to do so could result in a fine between 4-hundred to 2-thousand dollars, plus six demerit points for the first offense, if done again within five years, it goes to a fine between 1-thousand and 4-thousand dollars and six demerit points.
There could also be jail time of up to six months.
