WPS Hosting Youth in Policing Program

Any students who are interested in learning about policing can join a program in Woodstock. WPS is hosting its Youth in Policing Initiative.

WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Police Service is running its Youth in Policing Initiative.

It will be an 8-week program starting the first week of July and running until late August.

Applications are now being accepted, and the goal of the program is to inspire young people to look at policing as a potential career choice.

During the program, students will learn about the different units within the police service, act as mentors in the children's summer programming, participate in youth empowerment and diversity/inclusion programming, participate in activities that could be labour intensive, assist with office work, and assist the Community Service Officer at community events.

Some qualifications need to be met to be accepted into the program. They include; being between the ages of 15 to 18, returning to school in the upcoming year, residing in Woodstock, legally able to work in Canada, being responsible for transportation to and from police headquarters, and being available to work the entire 8 weeks with the hours assigned.

Students who are interested in applying need to have their resume and filled-out application emailed to communityservice@woodstockpolice.ca or dropped off in person at police headquarters by Monday, May 6th at 4 p.m.
