Work Underway on Mill St. Bridge

A 110-year-old rail bridge running over Mill St. in Woodstock is getting some maintenance. CN crews will be mobilizing underneath the bridge today, where they will be working over the next few months. CN Spokesperson Lindsay Fedchyscyn explains what work will be done. "They will be replacing 28 steel reinforcements that support the bridge. The community can expect 8-10 people out there. There will be cranes and other heavy equipment." Fedchyscyn says the bridge isn't a safety concern, but it is due for some maintenance. "Our bridges our inspected by our engineers annually. This work has been planned for several months, and it's part of our overall infrastructure improvement plan. The bridge is 110-years old, so this is part of making sure it suits all of our needs." The work is expected to take until the end of June to complete. It will affect traffic on Mill St. There will be lane reductions, from four down to two lanes in effect over the course of the next few months.
