The Ontario Government have invested over $15,000 to the Woodstock Police Service, improving their surveillance equipment and capabilities.
WOODSTOCK - The Ontario Government has announced new funding to help communities impacted by organized crime, including a grant to assist victims.
The Woodstock Police Service has received a grant of $15,264. The funds will be put towards surveillance equipment, along with improving surveillance capabilities.
Oxford MPP Ernie Hardeman says this new investment will help police officers do a better job of protecting the community.
"This investment will make a big difference in helping our local police services keep our communities safe. Our front line police officers need the right tools, and through the Civil Remedies Grant Program, police services across the province can use the proceeds of crime to prevent new criminal activity and save others from being victims."
The funding will come through the Civil Remedies Grant Program, which uses the proceeds and instruments of crime to help victims.
Hardeman adds improving the equipment will help prevent crime in the area as well.
"Better equipment helps police to tackle crime in our communities. This grant will go a long way to uncovering criminal activity, while keeping our streets safe."
