Woodstock Police Briefs

Briefs include mischief at a graveyard, stolen Weed Eater and trespassing on the CP tracks in Woodstock.

WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police are investigating after three grave markers were damaged at a local cemetery. 

The grave stones were damaged at the Presbyterian Cemetery in the North end of the City sometime during the past 6 weeks. Three markers in the round were targeted causing about $5,000 in damage. 

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Woodstock Police or Crime Stoppers.

A local business on Dundas Street was the victim of a break and enter. 

Police say the business was broken into sometime over the weekend. Access was gained through the fenced compound area and a Stihl Weed Eater and cans of gasoline were taken.

A 21 year old man from Woodstock has been charged with trespassing after police caught him walking on the CP tracks in Woodstock. 

The man was spotted on the tracks near Winniett Street yesterday morning. When officers tried to speak with the man he fled on foot and a chase ensued. It didn't take long for the police to catch up with him. 

He was charged with trespassing on CP property, including the tracks and also through multiple backyards of residences in the area. 

Staff Sergeant Shelton wants to remind the public that anyone found trespassing on property where a line work is situated is arrestable by police and carries a fine of $125.00.
