The Tim Horton's Roar of the Rings Curling Tournament will have some local representation when the action gets underway in Ottawa.
WOODSTOCK - A Woodstonian is getting ready to fight for the opportunity to represent Canada in the next Winter Olympics.
Rachelle Vink and the rest of Team Tippin have secured the ninth spot in the Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings Curling Tournament in Ottawa, after a successful run at the Road to the Roar Curling Pre-Trials.
Vink says they had a lot of local support when they were in Prince Edward Island almost two weeks ago.
"There was about 25 family, friends and sponsors that came out there; it was just really great to have them out there. It was kind of like a fifth player on the team, they rang the cow bells pretty loud for us so it was really nice to have them there."
Vink is honoured to be competing for a chance to represent Canada on the world stage next month.
"To have a one in nine shot of going to the Olympics is absolutely incredible and we're so excited for this opportunity."
Vink is the Second on the team; alongside Skip Julie Tippin of Owen Sound, Lead Tess Bobbie of Scarbourgh and Third Chantal Duhaime of Barrie.
The Olympic trials will get underway on December 4th and come to an end on December 10th.
