Constable Randi Crawford is reminding everyone to drive according to the weather conditions.
OXFORD COUNTY - Now that we've had our first big snowfall of the season, the Oxford OPP has some tips for drivers out there.
Constable Randi Crawford says you should always drive according to the weather conditions. She adds it's great to have snow tires, but they don't make you invincible.
"Yes those snow tires do help with your manoeuvrability, your stopping, and all that kind of stuff. But they don't just make you exempt so you're going to be able to stop in anything (snow, sleet, ice, etc). So you still have to be very careful when you're driving in any type of weather conditions."
She is also reminding everyone to take their time on the roads out there and be mindful of the other drivers.
"Be patient with others. Some people have higher anxiety when they're driving in the weather, so don't try to blast by them to pass. Just take the extra few minutes to make sure everyone gets to their destination safely."
Your vehicle must be completely cleared of all snow and ice before you hit the roads, so you have to take that into account for your morning commute time as well.
A snow squall warning is in effect for Oxford County. Environment Canada says we could get about 20 centimetres of snow by tonight with peak snowfall rates between 2 and 4 centimetres per hour.
