Public Comment sought on the Gunn's Hill Windfarm application
It's your chance to have your voice heard when it comes to the Gunn's Hill Windfarm application.
Prowind's plan is to set up ten turbines along Curries Road and Middletown Line in Norwich Township which would generate a combined 25 megawatts of electricity.
A Director for East Oxford Community Alliance Joan Morris says it's important for people to comment because it is the official way to voice your opinion.
"Most people may not realize the proposed machines are over 500 feet high and their blade sweep's larger than the largest commercial airliner. The blade sweep is larger than 6 NHL hockey rinks. These are very intrusive machines that are being brought into our community."
"It's easy for everyone to sit back and think that someone else will do it, but this is something that we will have to live with for a lifetime in Oxford County and there's no going back once this starts. This will impact us forever."
Morris has several concerns about the project.
"Audible sound, low frequency sound, shadow flicker and electrical pollution have been major impacts in other communities where such industrial facilities have been built and they have had significant impacts on residents and their living conditions. We would like to prevent that from occurring in our community and prevent the impacts that may occur to our families and our lives livestock as well for some of us."
While turbines wouldn't be set up until 2015, construction on access roads and foundations could start as early as late summer this year should the application go through.
Locals have until March 24 to submit their comments.
