At least 1000 wiener dogs are making their way to Embro for Canada's largest breed specific event.
EMBRO - Canada's largest breed specific event returns to Embro.
WienerFest invites dachshunds of all sizes to come on out to the Embro Community Recreational Centre this Saturday. Event Organizer Linda Collier says they are expecting at least 1000 wiener dogs."And that's just the wiener dogs that we count, so we have all kinds of other dogs that attend. They're wiener wannabes. It's not meant just specifically for wiener dogs. WienerFest is our fundraiser for Tiny Paws Dog Rescue and Helping Homeless Pets and we rescue any dog 20 lbs and under. But any kind of dog can come and bring their owner with them."
This is the 15th year for the festival, and it promises to bring all the fun of the previous years. There will be a yogurt licking contest, wiener races, a costume contest, a lure course, and of course a barbeque. There will also be a microchip clinic on site for just $30.
142 vendors have already signed on to take part, and a special celebrity guest will be making an appearance. Many know Crusoe from his YouTube videos where we dresses up in costumes.
WienerFest opens at 9 a.m. Saturday morning at the Embro Community Recreational Centre. There is no firm cost, but they do ask for donations at the gate.
