It's a rare, but concerning case. A 71-year-old man has died from ailments triggered by the West Nile Virus. The man was admitted to hospital back on September 6th, after falling ill in late August. West Nile, in rare cases, can cause swelling of the brain, and even death. This is the first West Nile death in the Windsor area since 2003. Public Health officials have been reminding residents all summer that incidents of West Nile being detected in mosquitoes have been on the rise. There have been no local human cases confirmed here in Oxford County.
