The new online hub will begin on May 7th from 3:30 to 5:30 pm for people between the ages of 13 to 25.
OXFORD COUNTY - Wellkin Child and Mental Wellness has a new online Hub all youth in our community between the ages of 13 to 25.
Originally this was going to be a drop in program for youth, however they decided to move it online for now because the pandemic. What you can expect when you visit the HUB:
- A virtual “drop in” space to connect with supportive staff and other youth through Zoom
- Information on supports related to mental health, employment, housing, addiction, and more.
- A structured wellness activity each week that you can participate in every Thursday from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm starting May 7th and running until August 27, 2020.
- Eventbrite registration links are located on the Wellkin web site.
Supervisor of the program Sophia Briard says this program was created by youth for youth.
"This Hub was created by several youth in Oxford that are part of our youth engagement advisory committee at Wellkin. They created the vision for this space and this space is dedicated to youth wellness and it is a place for youth to connect with their peers and learn about resource and supports within their community."
Briard says this wouldn't have been possible without the support of RBC.
"This was made possible through the RBC Future Launch community Challenge, which is supported by the RBC Foundation and the Oxford Community Foundation. They are funding the in person format, but we didn't want the pandemic to interfere with our ability to provide something sooner, that is why we are shifting gears and providing this virtual option until we can get back in person."
