Residents are invited to join the Remembrance Day ceremony at the Woodstock Cenotaph Monday at 11am

It's been 99 years since the start of World War One and on Monday we observe a moment of silence to say thank you. 

Hundreds of poppy wearing locals are expected to descend on the Woodstock Cenotaph at 11am for the City's Remembrance Day ceremonies. 

Legion Poppy Chair Mike Pritchard outlines what locals can expect. 
 
"11 o'clock the service begins, then we have the Last Post, Oh Canada and the Reveille. Then the Harvards are being flown over this year, then we're going to have your regular gathering of people in around the cenotaph, laying of the wreath and then there will be the march of the parade itself."
 
Pritchard says following the ceremony everyone is invited to the Woodstock Legion Branch 55 for a meet and greet. 
 
He says he's hoping for a large crowd.
 
"There's been over 106,000 soldiers that have sacrificed their life for the freedom we have in this country today. Not only in war time but in peace time we've still lost soldiers in different conflicts and it's important that we recognize the veterans that have seen the horrors of battle but also recognize those who did serve during peace time to let them know they're not forgotten as well."
 
Pritchard says there will be soldiers at the ceremony who have served in Afghanistan, the Korean war and UN peace keeping duties as well.

He says since there are so many wreaths, there will be a prelaying at 10:30am as well as a more formal laying during the 11am ceremony at the Woodstock Cenotaph.
