WDDS's latest fundraiser is good for the environment and potentially good for your wallet in the long term.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock District Developmental Services is selling rain barrels to help raise money for their expansion.
You can buy the rain barrels now and they will have them ready for you by Earth Day on April 22th. They will also have an Open House on April 28th from 2 - 4 p.m. and in the evening from 5 - 7 p.m. WDDS Fund Development and Communications coordinator Kathy DeWeerd explains why you should have a rain barrel at your home.
"Well just with the different billing now for water usage, it's really important to think about other alternatives to get water for your garden and plants and it's just a really good way to start recycling things that are already out there. This is something that has worked out well in the past and we have a lot of classes here that are involved in horticulture so we like to promote anything that helps have healthy gardens. The rain barrels are Canadian made and made out of recycled material."
WDDS launched a $1.5 million dollar expansion in November and the renovations will include more classrooms for the students.
You can purchase your rain barrel online at www.rainbarrel.ca/wdds or by calling 519-539-7447.
