Woodstock Police say a youth is facing assault charges following an altercation Wednesday afternoon.
WOODSTOCK – Woodstock Police are continuing to investigate an apparent knife attack at Woodstock Collegiate Institute.
Police say a victim sustained non-life threatening injuries in the incident that occurred shortly before 12:30 pm Wednesday afternoon at the corner of Graham Street and Hunter Street, behind WCI in downtown Woodstock.
Heart FM's Mike McCulloch was at the scene later in the afternoon and observed forensics officers retrieve an object from a storm drain with the help of a city employee using a magnet on a string.
Police took one person into custody and now say a 15 year-old youth was charged with Aggravated Assault, Assault with a weapon and Weapons Dangerous.
The victim in the altercation was treated in hospital and released later in the day.
The identity of the suspect can not be released due to the youth criminal justice act.
