WOODSTOCK - Experience backcountry camping this year at Pittock Conservation Area.
Marketing Specialist with Upper Thames River Conservation Authority, Steve Sauder says Pittock has opened up four beautiful new campsites for the 2018 season.
"These campsites are nestled in beautiful pine trees and its a really neat new feature for the conservation area. It gives you a sense of solitude and a sense of backcountry camping without being very far away from home."
These campsites are the same price as a non-electric campsite, $39.00 per night. While staying on the site, you are also close to other amenities like canoe and kayak rentals and beach area's.
Superintendent at Pittock Conservation Area, Justin Skrypnyk talks about why the new campsites are unique.
"You can leave your car at a monitored parking area and then walk a short trail into the radio-free pines section, where there are four quiet and relatively secluded campsites."
These sites are great for parents who want to introduce their children to backcountry camping. They're also good for children because parents don't have to worry about cars traveling back and fourth.
Sauder adds more information about the sites.
"They are a good size, they've got a picnic table on each one, they've got a nice fire place grate added and they all have lake view from the site as well."
The new feature is a very popular approach on camping and is booking up fast. You can book your site on Pittock Conservation Area's website or by phone at 1-866-ONT-CAMP.
