Police are searching for a lifted Chevrolet pickup truck that appeared to have kids vehicle surfing on Concession 2 Townsend this morning.
NORFOLK COUNTY - Norfolk OPP are investigating after getting a report of kids vehicle surfing near the border of Norfolk and Brant.
Police received a call this morning about a lifted Chevrolet pickup Truck travelling westbound on Concession 2 Townsend. The truck was doing at least 80 km/hr with a kid riding on the roof. Constable Ed Sanchuk says this is a serious life threatening offence.
"This had the potential to kill somebody today, we are just asking everyone to please just use some common sense. We are asking parents and caregivers about the dangers of vehicle surfing and let them know this is a life ending event if they should happen to get ejected from the vehicle."
Sanchuk says this story hits close to home for him as a father.
"I'm at a loss for words, I don't know what to say, I know I have a 14 year old son at home and a 10 year old daughter and I am going to be talking about this with them when I get home tonight."
Sanchuk says they are asking the person who called in the complaint today to give them another call so they can get some more information. The charge for vehicle surfing is at minimum, dangerous operation of motor vehicle and if something were to happen to the person riding on top the vehicle, that you will be looking at further criminal code charges.
