The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority reminds residents of the dangers surrounding flooded areas.
The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority is reminding residents to steer clear of flooded areas and waterways.
High water levels and localized flooding is expected with the heavy rainfall we received yesterday and will continue to see today. Because the ground is already very saturated with snowmelt and rain water, it will be difficult for the excess water to be absorbed back into the ground quickly.
Some rivers and creeks will have reached bank full conditions and watercourses may spill into the floodplains. There may even be some issues in urban areas.
Residents are reminded to avoid these areas throughout the weekend, and to keep children and pets away from water banks where rivers and streams will likely be fast flowing and slippery.
