Residents in Paris will soon get a better idea of what is going to happen at the site of the former Paris Golf and County Club.
PARIS - Brant County is ready to share information with residents regarding the upcoming Ontario Municipal Board Pre-hearing conference for the Paris Grand Estates, formerly known as Golf North Development on Paris Links Road.
Director of Planning for the County Rob Trotter says he gets asked about the former golf course often.
"This is certainly a hot topic for many residents, the proposed Draft Plan of Subdivision is on land that encompasses the former Paris Grand Golf and Country Club."
The County hosted an Open House on Monday which was attended by about 70 people. The purpose of the Open House was to share information and give residents an opportunity to ask the Consultant questions about the proposed plans to increase the sub division from 400 residential units to 800 residential units.
A Pre-hearing Conference is scheduled for February 16, 2018 starting at 11 am located at the Council Chambers in Paris.
The purpose of the Pre-hearing Conference is to:
- Hear motions for party status: Parties are people who have the right to participate by presenting evidence, questioning witnesses and making final arguments
- Hear requests for participant status: Participants are people who do not wish to participate throughout the hearing but may attend the hearing and make a statement to the Board
- Any requests for participant status can be made at the Pre-hearing Conference. If you are interested in participant status but unable to attend the Pre-hearing Conference, you may request participant status in writing, in - advance of the Pre-hearing Conference, to Leesa Kwong, Case Coordinator at Leesa.Kwong@ontario.ca or by phone at 416.326.6785.
Trotter says they understand this is a hot button issue.
"Many residents have concerns regarding this application. We will do our best to keep the public informed of the upcoming proceedings."
