13th case of PED in Ontario is confirmed in Oxford County.
It was likely only a matter of time.
The deadly and highly contagious Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea virus has arrived in Oxford County.
The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has confirmed the presence of the virus at a farm in the County.
It's the 13th farm in Ontario to present a case of PED in the last 4-weeks.
The aggressive virus often ends up claiming the lives of piglets who come down with it, and has been responsible for killing millions of piglets in the US.
Local producers are being urged to continue to keep their biosecurity standards high.
PED does not affect humans, or the food supply.
