United Way Oxford is dedicated to thirteen different projects for this year's Day of Caring on June 6th.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Day of Caring is only a few weeks away and it's going to be a busy one for United Way Oxford.
Community Impact and Engagement Manager Lindsay Wilson explains what it's all about.
"We ask our non-profit organizations to give us project ideas they need done around their organization. Then we match them with volunteer workplaces that come in for the day and do the work that needs to be done at that organization."
She gives us an example of one of these projects.
"A lot of the time it is gardening because that is something that does need to be done with cleaning up around the facility. This is not something non-profits have the recourses of the capacity to do, so a lot of the time it's just helping people clean up gardening."
Local volunteers will be working on 13 different projects throughout the county on Thursday June 6th.
A total of 1,227 volunteers have helped with 157 Day of Caring projects since 2006. Wilson says there were also 375 volunteer hours recorded last year alone.
United Way Oxford is encouraging everyone to have their own Day of Caring every day and pay it forward. You can read more about the Day of Caring and donate to United Way Oxford online here.
Lindsay Wilson stopped by the Heart FM studio with Peter Tenvoorde, a Partner with MW&CO, to chat with Dan and Marcie on Tuesday May 21st. You can listen to the full interview below:
