Athletes will be testing their mettle in Woodstock as MultiSport Canada comes to town for a triathlon.
WOODSTOCK - The Multisport Canada Triathlon series will be kicking off in Woodstock Saturday, June 11th.
Marketing Specialist Steve Sauder says there will be multiple races for different classes held throughout the day, but the first race will begin at 9 a.m. along the Pittock Conservation Area beach.
"They start in the lake right from the beach area and there are buoys set up that go in a big triangle out in the water. So they really go pretty much right across the lake and then across towards the dam and then back out."
Contestants will then ride bikes along country roads just north of the city, before returning to Pittock to run to the finish line.
Sauder adds it will also be an exciting day for the spectators.
"They also make it a really big visual event. They have a lot of blow up balloons to make it visual, lots of tents on site, they've got a great start and finish area which is one of the huge blow up balloon forms but it has some of the sponsors on them. It really makes it feel like a major event right here in Woodstock."
For spectators it costs $5 a person or $10 for a car filled with people.
