There will be new homes coming to Woodstock, as the Ontario Land Tribunal approved the 401 Lakeview Development.
WOODSTOCK - The wait is finally over regarding the 401 Lakeview project.
The Ontario Land Tribunal made a decision yesterday afternoon, and the project will go ahead. Mayor Jerry Acchione says what the developer has to do now that it has been approved.
"The next steps will be site plan approvals. So, they'll have to actually submit what exactly is going to be built there. And this is when they'll find out, like what kind of trees, landscaping, park area, things like that will still need to be added to it throughout the city level. I do not expect to see this back at City Council again."
Acchione says there were amendments made to the proposal, which he is happy about.
"I want to thank the developers for actually working with us throughout this process and coming to some compromises to make it a little bit better."
Acchione mentions issues brought up during the process were parking, shadowing, and the location of some of the buildings. He thinks the project could start being built later this year. It would include 68 townhouse units, 26 semi-detached homes and two seven-story apartment buildings. If you would like to read more about the decision, you can click here.
