Tree Planting in Burgess Park

The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority has teamed up with OWL Distribution for a tree planting in Burgess Park.

WOODSTOCK - OWL Distribution employees are doing their part to make Burgess Park a little greener.

The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority will provide OWL Distribution with 200 trees and shrubs to plant today. Resource Specialist Karen Pugh says all the trees and shrubs will be native to the Burgess Park area.

"So it's just a good way to keep the green in the city and build on to that corridor. The trail is well used; cyclists, hikers and walkers love to use the trail along there too so it's nice to be able to keep it natural."

Pugh explains how the trees will benefit the park.

"These trees will help with erosion control, help it eventually provide shade, they provide a corridor for the wildlife and they provide habitat and food sources."

Pugh adds the trees will also help with the water quality in the South Thames.

The OWL Distribution employees will be meeting up at the Tecumseh Street park entrance at 10am and they will pack things up at 1pm.
