Toyota Motor Manufacturing is stepping up to help children and youth in Oxford County through a large donation.
WOODSTOCK - Oxford-Elgin Child & Youth Centre has received the single largest donation from a local business it its 29 year history.
Toyota Motor Manufacturing presented the centre with a $50,000 donation to help support young people living with mental health challenges.
Project General Manager with Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada Frank Vandrus says it was actually the team members who came forward to raise awareness about this issue. "Our team members are very, very close to the community obviously - they live here. And they identified the need and I think it's been highlighted in the community recently. the suicide risk and concerns. And they wanted to do something to help."
Executive Director of Oxford-Elgin Child & Youth Centre Marc Roberts says they will take their time and carefully choose where this donation can do the most good. "The next step is we're going to be meeting with the leadership group that's called the Suicide Prevention Oxford Leadership coalition and making a decision as to the best place in our community for that money to go."
Oxford-Elgin Child & Youth Centre offers a variety of services including walk in counselling services and intensive in-home support. All services come at no cost to the client.
