Cedar & Wilson water main break is just the latest in a busy winter for city works crews.
The water main break has been fixed and traffic is flowing through Wilson and Cedar St. once again in Woodstock.
Monday's break forced a two day shut down for city crews and a contractor to dig up and repair the broken main.
City Works Superintendent Alex Piggott says it's been a harsh winter on the pipelines. "We're above average this year for the water main breaks especially with the cold and frigid temperatures. I'd say it has been an above average season."
As you can imagine, working in these frigid temperatures isn't much fun for city crews. "Conditions for the workers are not the best, having to deal with the extreme cold and getting wet. A lot of those times when we do those types of repairs, we make every effort to ensure they're working under dry conditions. So use of pumps of course and bring in some clear stone material for the workers to stand on."
The city will close the tracks once again, after 9 a.m. tomorrow to repave the problem area.
