Cabaret will make its debut at Theatre Woodstock this weekend.
WOODSTOCK - The next production at Theatre Woodstock will take you back almost 100 years.
Cabaret will make its debut this weekend and will continue next weekend as well.
Twenty actors will perform alongside a live orchestra, and Dayna Fobert is one of them. She says the show starts out in a cabaret club in Germany on New Years Eve in 1929.
"You're seeing these people live their lives at this cabaret club while the political climate around them is changing quite a bit. You're seeing these people fall in love and get married in some cases and realize that the politics can't be ignored anymore so they have to change their choices."
Fobert plays the role of Sally Bowles, an English singer trying to make her dreams come true in Berlin.
Cole Hill plays the role of the M.C., who is not only the host of the Kit Kat Club but also the narrator.
"So he bounces back and forth between being an actual character in the show and moving the story along. He's everywhere, he breaks the fourth wall and he's fun!"
Director Joey Larmour is proud to bring this iconic Broadway musical to the Friendly City.
"It’s been an incredible experience getting to direct such an iconic musical“ The cast is absolutely amazing, and I can tell they are so excited to be a part of the show. We’re lucky to have attracted talent from all over the area with some cast members travelling in from London, St. Mary’s, and Stratford - something that I believe shows the caliber of Theatre Woodstock’s past productions. Between the amazing cast and crew, stellar choreography, and a live orchestra conducted by a fabulous musical director, the show is sure to be an amazing evening (or afternoon) out."
There will be eight performances total with a mix of 7:30 p.m. shows and 2:00 p.m. Sunday matinees.
Tickets can be purchased online here and they cost $32 for adults, $20 for students or $18 for youth under 18 years old. However, all tickets are $20 each through the Thrifty Thursday promotion, with the exception of the youth tickets. The show is recommended for people over the age of 14 due to the content.
Dayna Fobert and Cole Hill stopped by the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Tuesday February 4th.
