Theatre Woodstock's debut performance of The Dining Room will be taking place this Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
WOODSTOCK - Six different actors will bring about 35 characters to life in Theatre Woodstock's latest production.
The Dining Room will make its debut this Friday night and it is directed by Lenore Butcher. She says the show includes 18 vignettes that take place over the course of a century, so you can see how the average dining room has evolved over the years.
"The Dining Room in years gone by was traditionally the heart of the family home and we don't see that so much anymore with our fast-paced lifestyles. A lot of homes today don't even have dining rooms so it's very rare for people to sit down for these big formal dinners. This play was written in the 1980s as an homage to a dying thing then."
The show features six different actors bringing 35 characters to life. Vanessa Paige explains how she will be playing 10 parts herself.
"It is a revolving door. There is no start or finish, we just keep coming on and off (the stage) and slightly changing ourselves. The way that we stand, the way that we speak and the way that we walk will depict which character we are in the play."
Paige says there will also be several costume changes throughout the show.
The Dining Room has evening performances scheduled for Friday December 2nd, Saturday December 3rd, Thursday December 8th, Friday December 9th, and Saturday December 10th. All of those shows will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The matinee performance will be taking place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday December 3rd due to the Woodstock Santa Claus parade happening this Sunday afternoon.
Tickets for all of the performances cost $25 each and they can be purchased online here.
Lenore Butcher and Vanessa Paige both stopped by the Heart FM Studio on Monday November 28th to chat with Dan and Marcie about the Dining Room and you can listen to the full interview below.
