Woodstock City Council has given permission to their CAO to look for a new Director of Public Works.
WOODSTOCK - A search for a new Director of Public Works is underway.
Chief Administrative Officer David Creery is in charge of looking for a new Director of Public Works.
Mayor Trevor Birtch says Creery will be working with human resources during the recruitment process.
"Through our human resources department, the CAO will be actively going through those applications and providing interviews to make a recommendation on the best fit for that position."
Mayor Birtch says Creery is in charge of managing the recruitment process, but council could have also been involved.
"Council decided to give that authority directly to the CAO to manage that recruitment process. Council could have also been actively involved, we could have appointed a councillor or the Mayor to that process as well, but tonight we decided to allow it to go through the regular process with the CAO."
Mayor Birtch says the decision to create the new position was approved during this year's budget.
"This is a position that was created during the approval of the 2019 budget. We took a supervisor position and did an increase to that position to make sure that as the city continues to grow, that we have the right focus and the right personnel developed to take care of all of the city's business."
Creery will interview a number of applicants before making a recommendation to council, who will make the final decision.
A decision is expected to be made later this year.
