The Woodstock Hospital's Dairy Capital Run goes tomorrow morning at Southside Park.
WOODSTOCK - The 23rd annual Dairy Capital Run will take place at Southside Park tomorrow.
600 runners will lace to participate in different events, including the 10 km and 5 km runs.
Senior Development Officer for the Woodstock Hospital, Jocelyn Jenner says the event is for not just runners, but the whole family too.
"So, of course, we have our serious runners who are there to get their timed results, but this is also an event that is for the family so we've got something for everybody. You don't have to be a runner to participate, you can come down and walk with your family in one of the events or you can come down and cheer on the runners, that's always a great way to participate as well in the event. And I think the Dairy Capital is a long standing tradition in Woodstock and we're very thankful that we have such great community support, not only the neighbouring residents of Southside Park but also from the City of Woodstock who offer a lot of support as well to us. So we hope that people will come out and it's supposed to be a sunny day, so it's a great morning to get a little exercise and support the hospital as well."
The 10km race is the first race of the morning, which begins at 8:00am, followed by the 5km at 8:10am. The 2km race gets underway at 9:30am and the Lil' Hoofers Run goes at 10:00am.
The event raises money for the hospital's equipment and improving their technology. Last year, the fundraiser generated money for new cardiac monitors for the hospital's the emergency department.
Jenner says this year's funds will go towards a new surgical table for their outpatient clinic.
"So this year all the proceeds are going to be helping support a new surgical table and that's for our outpatient clinic. So that'll help the staff here at the hospital provide a variety of clinical procedures in that unit."
Participants can still register for the event, however Jenner says they have to now to do it on the day of the race. Registration is available in the Blue Sea Cadet building.
The Dairy Capital Run goes from 8:00am to 11:00am.
