Operation Sharing is providing a free thanksgiving meal to those looking for companionship or in need of a meal.
WOODSTOCK - Locals in need of a pick me up and companionship are invited to Operation Sharing's annual Thanksgiving meal on Monday.
Operation Sharing Chaplin Steve Giuliano says they have once again partnered with Unifor 636 to run the event.
"Thanks to Woodstock Taxi, there will be free cab rides for those less fortunate for those who need a ride within City limits. A special thanks to Ody's restaurant for kindly providing to cook up over 20 turkeys and carve them and provide the gravy for us."
The Salvation Army was also a big contributor of food and turkeys.
"For those less fortunate, so often, loneliness is one of the most difficult things they are faced with. On times when other families are celebrating together, they are reminded of their own isolation and also their own lack of ability to buy foods for this kind of occasion."
"We have had anywhere at this event between 250-325. It goes up and down. I'm pleased to be able to say to that often times we see the faces changing which means at least, we like to think that just because you're poor doesn't mean that you're always going to be poor in the eyes of the community."
The free meal is scheduled for Monday from 1-3pm at the Unifor Hall on Beale Street.
Everyone is welcome.
